Keyboards, Drums, Harmonica, Congas, Vocals
I started playing drums at a very young age on my Mom’s pots and pans; I guess my family got a little tired of the banging so they bought me my first set of Apollo drums at the age of nine. I wanted to join the grade school orchestra, tried to get them to let me play a full set but they would not allow this; so I took up the trombone. Continuing to play drums after school throughout my childhood days, starting many garage type bands, one with just a singer and me on drums winning a talent contest. Went on to form a rock band in high school performing throughout my high school stint. Decided to pursue my soccer career and put the sticks aside, returned to the music scene around 1992 playing congas and guitar in our Church group. This is where the first South Side Johnny Band was formed, a few members getting together to perform at our Parish functions.
As we performed more venues I started singing and playing a variety of instruments with the band. For many years I played the drums, congas, various percussion instruments and rhythm guitar, as changes came about I no longer sit behind the drum kit, I am now playing keyboards, singing lead vocals and having a blast peforming!

Lead Vocals, Percussion
A born and raised “Jersey Girl”, I grew up in Mt. Laurel, NJ
just outside of Philadelphia, PA. I
first gained a love of singing and performing in grade school as a flower in my
school’s performance of Alice in Wonderland.
What followed was a series of musicals that took me all the way through
high school and then into local regional theater. I was also a member of my high school’s show
choir and loved every chance I got to be on stage.
Music took a back seat for a while as my other passion,
sports, took over. I attended George
Mason University on a softball scholarship.
Shortly after graduation, I moved to Glen Carbon, IL where I still
reside today. “Real life” took over as I
worked multiple jobs in the Health and Fitness realm before going back to school
to get a license to teach Physical Education as well as simultaneously start my
family. I am now the mother to a 15 year
old daughter, a 12 year old son and teach elementary P.E. I was so excited when the opportunity came my way to join
The South Side Johnny Band and get back onto the stage. I am so blessed to have an amazing support
system in my children and my boyfriend, who were 100% behind me chasing a long
time dream to sing in a band. I am so
proud to be a part of such a talented group of musicians! JD WHEELER

Bass Guitar, vocals, Keys
I grew up in Chicago and was heavily influenced by the rock scene in the 70’s. I formed a band in high school and played bass and vocals. During my college years I played bass and guitar in a few bands in Champaign, IL, mostly covers.
After college I returned to Chicago and played bass and keys in a number of bar bands. Back then my major influences were Rush, Yes, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
I moved to St Louis in 2001, just married with a small child. I played in a number of cover bands around town; Johnny James Band, Chapter 11 and DejaLou.
I love the set list we are now doing. It’s upbeat and really fun for the audience. I am looking forward to performing this year and adding a little more edge to the SSJBAND, an already rockin’ group of musicians.
I currently live in West County and when I am not playing in the band you can see me riding the back roads of Missouri on my Harley.
My current rig consists of a booming Mark Bass Amp, Ampeg Cab and Fender, Ibanez and Rickenbacker basses. Looking forward to meeting you at our next show!
Lead Guitar, Vocals
At the age of 10 I started guitar lessons at Ludwig Studios. After three years of learning music theory and playing nothing but old standards and classical pieces, I had made up my mind that I was done with lessons because I wasn't having fun. On the day that I had decided was going to be my last lesson, in walks a new teacher just assigned to me. He asked me to play what I had been working on and after doing so he commented that it sounded good. But then went on and asked me if I liked what I was playing. I said no sir and that I was ready to quit. He then showed me the intro to Johnny B Goode and that was that! Mom...Dad....I need an electric guitar.
Got into my first band in high school and have kept going since then. So I've been playing some of the greatest rock & roll since I was 13. I've been fortunate to play with some great musicians and just downright great people over the years. Most recently with the Father Jack Band, CoverTrax and The Relation Band prior to that and now with The South Side Johnny Band!
My major musical influences growing up would include Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and BB King.
By the way, I still play the same Johnny B Goode intro I learned at age 13.
Booking Agent, Band Manager
Somebody has to keep these goofballs in line. That job belongs to Roxanna, she has been booking and managing the band for the past 15 years.
From booking the shows, reserving tables, booking
room reservations, getting us an occasional refreshment now and then, making sure we all look and dress the part and just the all around embassador to the Band. With out her day in and day out management, ssjband would be lost. Roxanna is a very valuable piece of this fine oiled machine and she continues to bring the can.
Oh.... and did I fail to mention Band Photographer,Videotagrapher, Hair Dresser, Payroll Specialist, After Party Host, keeper of our scawww what the heck you
get the picture.
Love You Babe!
